It is difficult to put an exact carbon footprint for a person in the UK. However, it is estimated that the average carbon footprint for a person in the UK is between 9 to 12.7 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
This is considerably higher than the global average of approximately 4.3 tonnes per person and is well above the level recommended by the Paris Agreement, that states that the global average carbon footprint needs to be reduced to around 2.3 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
The current UK average is considerably higher than this target and needs to be reduced to limit global warming.

As trees grow, they absorb CO₂ through photosynthesis and store it in their trunks, roots, and leaves. This process, known as carbon sequestration, naturally removes a portion of human-generated emissions from the atmosphere
Bath Orchard will support the planting of native species that are appropriate for the local ecosystem. This helps create and restore natural habitats for a variety of wildlife, plants, and fungi, supporting overall nature recovery.
Planting apple trees can offer many co-benefits to the environment, such as improving local air quality by absorbing pollutants, enhancing water quality, stabilising soil to prevent erosion, and mitigating flood risk.
Creating or expanding orchards can connect habitats and create wildlife corridors, helping species adapt to a changing climate.
